Greetings to No1 Parnell Gallery - Rawene Northland

I am an Auckland based artist who paints fish. I retired from the corporate world in 2018 and built a studio in my garden in the Auckland suburb of Herne Bay.

I am an avid fisherman. I fish all year round. You will see me heading out to the outer Hauraki Gulf, early on a calm June morning, wrapped up against the cold, thermos flask in my bag and a smile on my face.

I love the deep blues and greens of the Haruaki Gulf. I get inspiration from the ocean and the fish I catch.

I paint on art paper and also on Cedar Wood & Sheet Metal. My preference is water based acrylics although I have a small number of colour pencil artworks.

Northland for me - I have a connection with Northland as my grandparents farmed on Pungaere Road outside of Kerikeri and my father was born at Kawakawa Base Hospital.
